New Delhi, May 2025 — The US Embassy in India has released thousands of student visa appointments across its consulates, aiming to accommodate the rising number of Indian students heading to American universities.
The announcement, shared via the Embassy’s official social media, comes as part of a broader effort to prioritize student visa processing. A digital poster accompanying the message stated, “Thousands of student visa appointments are available across MISSION INDIA,” along with a link for applicants to check local availability.
Former US Ambassador Eric Garcetti highlighted this priority in April 2024, stating that student visas were a "high priority" due to the long-term value of educational and cultural ties.
In 2023, the US Mission in India issued over 140,000 student visas, the most globally for the third consecutive year, and processed 1.4 million visas overall — a record number.
This move is expected to ease the application process for students applying for the upcoming academic year in the United States.
