Love Sharma: The Dancing Heartbeat of Haryana's Youth

In the quiet lanes of Haryana’s villages, where opportunities are few and dreams often remain whispers, a rhythmic revolution is unfolding. At the center of it is Love Sharma — a dancer, mentor, and the driving force behind Nachle Haryana, a grassroots movement that is transforming lives one step at a time.

Love Sharma’s story is not just a tale of passion for dance. It’s a story of grit, healing, and a powerful mission to give voice — and stage — to the voiceless. What began as a childhood fascination with rhythm and movement has today become a beacon of hope for thousands of aspiring dancers across the state.

Dance as Destiny
Born and raised in Haryana, Sharma discovered his love for dance at an early age. “Dance was never just a hobby,” he reflects. “It was how I expressed what words couldn’t.” But pursuing this passion wasn’t easy. In a society where dance is often overlooked as a viable career — especially for men — Sharma had to battle both societal judgment and personal obstacles.

One of those obstacles nearly ended everything.

Beating the Odds — A Battle Against Brain Tumor
Years into his journey, Sharma was diagnosed with a brain tumor — a turning point that tested everything he stood for. But even in the darkest hours, he turned to dance. Using dance therapy as part of his recovery, Sharma found strength, focus, and healing through movement.

“Every beat reminded me I was alive. Every step became a symbol of resilience,” he says.

It was during this period that he realized the true power of dance — not just as performance, but as therapy, as life-saving medicine.

Nachle Haryana: A Stage for the Unseen
From his personal pain emerged a larger purpose. Nachle Haryana was born out of a dream to create a free, inclusive platform that would find and nurture raw talent — especially from underserved villages, government schools, and slum communities. Today, it’s one of Haryana’s most inspiring grassroots art initiatives, giving thousands of children access to mentorship, training, and performance opportunities.

Under Sharma’s guidance, these young dancers are not only mastering technique but also building confidence, discipline, and a sense of identity.

Music and Dance as Tools for Mental Health
Sharma speaks openly about depression — his own and that faced by many of his students. “In slums and rural areas, mental health is a silent killer,” he says. “Music and dance give these children a reason to hope, a reason to live.” He’s witnessed firsthand how rhythmic expression can transform trauma into joy and silence into voice.

A Cultural Revival
In an era where commercial music often leans toward vulgarity, Sharma is also leading a cultural correction. He actively fights against the rising wave of negative and objectifying lyrics, promoting instead Haryana’s rich folk traditions and positive cultural expressions.

“Folk dance is our identity,” he says with pride. “We must protect it, modernize it, and celebrate it — not replace it with noise.”

Building Futures, Step by Step
Through Nachle Haryana, Sharma is not just teaching choreography — he’s building leaders, boosting self-worth, and sparking community pride. His students have gone on to perform on national stages, win scholarships, and become mentors themselves, carrying forward the spirit of giving.

Love Sharma’s journey is a living testament that music and dance are more than just arts — they are lifelines. His mission goes beyond performance; it’s about healing wounds, creating opportunities, and reshaping the cultural landscape of Haryana.

And as he says with a smile, “I don’t just want to teach dance. I want to teach people how to live again — with rhythm, with purpose, and with hope.”

Special Initiative: Nachle Haryana

  • Free dance training for underprivileged children
  • Workshops in villages, government schools, and slum areas
  • Reviving folk dances like Ghoomar and Jhumar
  • Campaigns against vulgar lyrics and in favor of cultural integrity
  • Dance therapy sessions for mental health awareness

Love Sharma isn’t just creating dancers — he’s creating change. And Haryana is dancing to a new, hopeful beat because of it.
